Full-day VIP tour of the Sacred Valley
Full Day VIP Sacred Valley Tour Itinerary: Everything You Need to Know
The Sacred Valley is the valley formed by the Urubamba River (Vilcanota). It was the nerve center of the Inca civilization and is now one of the main destinations in South America. It is home to many colonial towns where you can see the daily life of the people of the Andes, ancient Inca cities abandoned almost intact. It is the “Spiritual Center of South America” and one of the best places to practice adventure sports in Peru. But it is also an excellent place to buy traditional Andean textiles, handicrafts, and other typical Andean items, including gold and silver jewelry.
This tour begins with pickup from your hotel at 6:45 a.m. to head to the town of Chinchero (located 40 minutes from Cusco). We will visit the archaeological site that was the palace of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, the tenth Inca ruler, and its colonial church, which is a masterpiece of colonial art. You will also take part in experiential tourism with a visit to a textile interpretation center where you will see a demonstration of the use of natural dyes in textiles and their iconography. Continuing our visit, we will head to the famous circular terraces of Moray, unique in their kind. They are depressions or gigantic natural holes that were used to build agricultural terraces. From here, we will go to the village of San Francisco de Asís de Maras, characterized by its colonial facades with coats of arms of the noble chiefs of the 16th and 20th centuries.
After that, we will descend to the Salineras de Maras, a picturesque place known for its landscapes, where you will see more than 3,000 salt wells that were exploited since Inca times and used as a means of commercial exchange. You will also see the famous pink salt used by chefs around the world.Continuing the journey along the banks of the Vilcanota River until we reach the province of Urubamba, where we will enjoy our buffet lunch, we will continue our journey to Ollantaytambo, known as “The Last Living Inca City.” Its streets still maintain the same urban layout as in Inca times.Ollantaytambo reminds us of a mythical love story, a drama in which love prevails over all obstacles. It is believed that this city was built by the Inca general Ollantay, at a time of rebellion against the royal army of the Inca, when he prevented his union with the beautiful princess Cusi Qoyllor, “Beautiful Star.”Once the visit to Ollantaytambo is over, we head to the last
place to visit. Pisaq is one of the largest Inca cities in Peru, which is divided into different sectors, one of which is the cemetery with more than 3,000 tombs located on the side of a rocky mountain, and other sectors such as the terraces that divide the urban and agricultural areas.
After this visit, we will continue to the town of Pisaq, where we will see an exhibition of silver and minerals representing Andean symbols. We will return to Cusco at 7:00 pm.
